Tarkin Description – In the Future

by Kevin Hines

Tarkin Maiz. Founder of the Order of the Druid Protectors. He was the oldest member of the adventuring party, and was greying by the end of our final adventure. This continues. Even if his aging is slowed, I want him grey haired.

Broad nose. Full beard, full head of hair. He is massive. Short in stature. Taller then a dwarf, but still a short man. Thick arms, as befits a lumberjack. Fingernails always caked with dirt. Hands calloused and hard. Hair thick on his entire body.

Attitude wise Tarkin has a lot in common with Norse gods. He jokes. He drinks. He tells stories of his adventures (which likely continued even after the final adventure we played). He only is quiet when either his wife Selina is brought up (she died before Tarkin joined the campaign, and she had visions of Daryuun. That is why Tarkin decided to follow the party after seeing us) or if Lydea is brought up, or if the Faery Dragon is brought up. He is powerful and strong. And wise and smart. He dispenses advice to many of the families on the isle and is loved by all. He is by far the most powerful member of the order (as befits Daryuun's protector) but at the same time he is very approachable. He is the grandfather to the entire island. He would show off for the kids by lifting and throwing boulders, throwing his axe a great distance into a target. His face creased from age, and used to being put into a grimace in the heat of battle has softened some. Even in fights he smiles, unless it turns deadly serious. Which it rarely does.

He deals with a lot of the day to day business that Daryuun doesn't have time for. Even by the end of the campaign he had passed simply being a protector and became a best friend and partner to Daryuun.

As a member of the Order he wore armor. Each member of the order on the island would have a similar suit of armor. The armor was mostly dulled and covered by cloth, so as not to attract attention. They all came with brown cloaks. These clasped on to the shoulder plates. Each clasp would represent something. The clasp on your on-hand side (Left for Tarkin) represented your Druid. Daryuun is represented either by a hawk or a polar bear. I think he spent more time as a hawk. The other clasp represents the individual's animal. (Remember the Order had limited shape changing...detailed somewhere on my D&D website). Tarkin's animal is the eagle. There is no religious tokens or items. Tarkin has met the gods. He has talked with gods. He is friends with gods (BigKev and Wookie). He doesn't worship.

He still wields an axe (of time travel????) that sits on his back. He is too short to wear it on his side comfortably.

After Daryuun retired, so did Tarkin. If Daryuun left, so did Tarkin. Tarkin likely stopped wearing heavy armor after leaving the island. That was only as head of the Order. He wears light chain now, with a similar cloak. Small satchel at his side to carry belongings.

If Daryuun died or is somehow not available for Tarkin to travel with. Tarkin likely travels on his own. Stopping in towns. Quietly righting a wrong. And moving on. Often returning to the Druid Isle.
