Overview
The campaign will take place in a huge city called Dragonfall. It is very reminiscent of Waterdeep if anyone is familiar with Forgotten Realms.
Anyway, this city lies on the west coast of a large inland sea (like the Black Sea). There are five other cities along this coast, both north and south. To the west lie many baronies and fiefdoms of men (see below). To the north, beyond the last coastal city, past a huge range of mountains is the powerful Kingdom of Gund. Off shore are many (many, many) small islands that dot this inland sea. These islands are constantly in a state of mock warfare called the Game of Many Blades, or simply, the Game. The power structure in this region (the region being the coast and the western fiefdoms) depends on the current situations in the game. 100 hundred minor and 7 major Houses (noble families) vie for control of the many islands; sieges, naval warfare, and island warfare is ongoing, but relatively non-lethal. In theory, the House with the largest, most powerful holdings in this giant game of Risk hold the most clout. Assassinations and intrigue are rife, although officially disavowed. This area is known generally as the Battlelands (by non-natives) or the Warrior Crescent (or simply, the Crescent) by natives. It is nominally part of Gund, but practically totally independent. The Crescent provides many of the warriors and mercenaries that eventually travel north to Gund. Also, to the _far_ west, past nomadic horsemen and much else, lies the Sea Empire of Jade, from which many exotic things come. To the south are more dangerous mountains and then the Grey Sea. To the east, across the Crater Sea are many nations of men, elves and others. So Dragonfall is large, vibrant, and dangerous but exciting for almost all classes/races. As details come in, I will detail more small areas.
