So you'd like to be in the Order of Druid Protectors.
Here's what you'll need:
You'll have to be a fighter ( no paladins or rangers) of 3rd level or higher.
You'll need to have a willing Druid of 3rd level or higher ( the two do NOT need to be the same level )
Both will need to be willing participants and a small ritual will need to be performed.
Once joined the Protector levels slower. Now I don't have any books, so this is vague. I see them leveling at the rate of a paladin or ranger, except that since they leveled faster up until becoming a protector they will need less expereinece. Now I think a paladin/ranger needs to double his XP to level, and a fighter doesn't, if so then this is easy, once a fighter becomes a protector, he needs to double his XP. if I am wrong it would need finessing. This isn't that important, and I have wasted enough time on it.
keep in mind, that the joining does not need to occur third level, so all abilities are in relation to when he became a protector.
0 levels after: a sense of each other. know if they are alive/dead/hurt. Also would know if the other wasn't themselves.
Ex:. Tarkin would have known Joe was possessed by the demon if he was there ( and his protector ). This goes both ways.
1 level after: a sense of direction towards the other and a vague distance.
Ex: Tarkin knows Joe is to the north, and very far away.
2 levels after: less vague distance, know within 5 or 6 miles.
3 levels after: protector can become an animal. One animal, once a day. This animal is chosen by the druid.--at this time if the druid dies, the protector must role system shock to survive.
4 levels: nothing new.
5 levels after: sense distance is down to within a square mile. Also can sense emotions of other. fear, anxiety, worry. this is the best the sensing gets. when druid reaches high druid status, and after (or when protector has been with druid 6 levels... whichever is
later ): Protector can turn into animal form at unlimited rate.
protectors do not attract followers.
Once a fighter reaches the level where he attracts these he can no longer become a protector.
3 levels prior to reaching high druid status the druid becomes ineligible to have a protector.
When a druid dies, the protector loses all abilities, and no longer gains XPs until completion of a quest. this varies. maybe killing whoever killed the druid. if the druid died of natural causes it may be doing something to help the forest, or animals or what have you. after completion ( or when the druid is raised... whichever happens first ) he can gain XP again.
However if the Druid remains dead he will never regain abilities and can never be another druids protector.
If a protector dies, the druid does NOT role system shock, does lose abilities, and can have another protector.
I think that’s all...any questions or amendments to
ANY of the above...let me know.
