Sappy Birthday Talk

Cat, Brian, my Dad, and me all had birthdays over the last 2 months. Often during the birthday season I find myself thinking about where I am and what I am doing and getting a bit depressed. At 33 and I still feel pretty aimless and unfocused with my life and I wonder when I will get it together. Which tends to make me decide I will never get it together and I am probably doomed to a vaguely unsatisfying future.

But instead of thinking that I try to imagine what High School Kevin might think if he met, or learned, what 33 year old Kevin is up to. He would see an unemployed guy who saved enough money that he didn’t need to stress (yet) about that lack of a job. He’d see a guy living with a very cool girl who makes him dinner and puts up with his enormous comic book addiction. He’d see a guy who spends a lot of his free time performing in comedy shows and teaching improv. He’d see a guy with a bunch of really funny, cool friends that he spends a lot of time with.

I think he’d be pretty psyched about that future. But maybe not, that High School Kevin could be pretty pessimistic.

Who would win in a fight? Now-Kevin or High School Kevin?

Now-Kevin, if only because High School Kevin weighed a scrawny 155 pounds.

I was about 155 in high school too. Nice. We were consistent as brothers in one area.

    We were both twerps.
