Kevhines timeline

I always forget dates. People ask me how long I have been in my apartment or how long I have been dating my girlfriend or when I moved to New York and I always forget. This past summer I was talking to a college friend of mine and we couldn’t remember when all our different college friends had gotten married – which since I had been to everyone’s wedding was embarrassing.

So I decided the only normal way to solve this problem was to build an online timeline.

I found some code online that already did what I wanted: Simile Timeline

It wasn’t as easy to install as a poll so I took a few days to get it set up. And then a few more days to make the page look not terrible. And then a few more days to add some data.

So go here and see the first version of the Kevhines timeline. I also linked to it from the top of my blog’s page.

I haven’t added a lot of stuff yet. I mostly marked graduations, moving into new places, births and deaths of family, marriages of friends, births of friend’s kids, and the all-important formation of certain improv teams. I want to add a lot more. Also I might continue to tweak the look of the page.

In addition I might have made mistakes (either because I remembered wrong or because I make typos very often) so feel free to email me or post somewhere to let me know.

This might be boring to everyone not named Kevin Hines, but I think its kind of fun, so enjoy (maybe).

I find it fascinating that you included your improv teams and friends’ kids but no jobs or girlfriends. Well, you sort of included jobs but there’s definitely no girlfriends. This timeline needs to be sexed up, Kevin Hines!
